The Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University invites prospective students and their families to experience campus life during its annual open house on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Bliss Hall on the YSU campus.
The event, called “Music Major for a Day” provides prospective students with an insider’s view of YSU’s performing arts community.
Attendees will have the opportunity to observe classroom experiences, bring their instrument or voice, perform with ensembles or choirs, sit in on a panel discussion with current students, join specialized clinics in their area of interest and interact with music faculty.
“This event offers high school students and their families a valuable opportunity to experience life as music and theatre undergraduates,” said Joe Carucci, director of the Dana School of Music and University Theatre. “Participants will spend the day engaged in classes, rehearsals, performances and productions while connecting with YSU faculty and students. Bliss Hall provides a vibrant environment where artists cultivate the skills and knowledge needed to launch successful careers.”
The daylong event is designed to showcase the full spectrum of musical and theatrical education at YSU. Participants will shadow current students and faculty, tour professional-grade facilities and performance spaces, and learn about degree programs, career paths and opportunities in music.
The Dana School of Music has built a reputation for excellence in music education, performance and community engagement. The school offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students for careers in performance, education and the music industry.
The Open House is free, but advance registration is required. Interested students and families can register online.
