YSU professor recognized for professional achievements

Dr. Suresh Sharma speaking at the International Faculty Development Program

Suresh Sharma, associate professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering with the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, has received several awards and fellowships for his professional achievements, including being recognized as a Fellow of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute.

Sharma has served the EWRI for over 10 years in various capacities, including as a member, vice chair, chair and past chair of some of its technical committees. The EWRI is one of nine institutes within the American Society of Civil Engineers, where Sharma has also been recognized as a Fellow — one of only 3% of members who advance to the Fellow member grade.

To receive these awards, members must meet a high standard of professional excellence, prove advancement in their field, provide references and show significant public outreach and education advancement efforts.

He has also received his credential as a Board-Certified Water Resources Engineer by the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers and an Outstanding Faculty Award for Community Engagement and Sustained Scholarship from YSU’s Office of Community Engagement.
