Summer Festival of the Arts returns to Youngstown State University July 12 & 13

The Summer Festival of the Arts returns to Youngstown State University July 12–13, 2025, celebrating its 27th year as one of the region’s premier summertime traditions. The free two-day festival brings together artists, performers and community members for a vibrant showcase of creativity and culture on the scenic YSU campus.

The event features a juried marketplace of original works by artists from across the region. Attendees can explore a wide variety of fine art and handcrafted goods, including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, textiles, woodworking, metalwork and jewelry.

The festival also emphasizes family-friendly entertainment and interactive experiences. The SMARTS Children’s Arts Tent, led by Students Motivated by the Arts, will offer hands-on art activities for children of all ages throughout the weekend.

Live music performances will take place across multiple outdoor stages, featuring a dynamic mix of genres and talent from throughout the Mahoning Valley. A variety of food vendors will be on site serving festival favorites and regional specialties.

Throughout the weekend, the YSU campus will transform into a lively arts village—welcoming families, art enthusiasts and visitors of all ages. Whether attending for the art, music, food or vibrant atmosphere, the Summer Festival of the Arts offers something for everyone.

This year’s participating artists reflect a wide range of disciplines and creative backgrounds.

Organized and presented by Youngstown State University, the Summer Festival of the Arts is made possible through the generous support of community partners and dedicated volunteers. The event reflects the university’s long-standing commitment to cultural engagement and regional enrichment, while continuing a tradition that began in 1999.

Free parking will be available in campus lots off of 5th Avenue.
