Bitonte College of Health and Human Services to host Wellness Across the Lifespan Health Fair at Southern Park Mall

The Youngstown State University Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, in partnership with Southern Park Mall, will host the Wellness Across the Lifespan Health Fair 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 11. 

The all-day event will bring together community members and healthcare disciplines from YSU to promote health, fitness, wellness and preventative care. Activities include interactive booths, educational talks, hands-on demonstrations and free resources for individuals and families.

Adults’ programming runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include yoga, hands-only CPR training and free health screenings for blood pressure, fall risk and cognition. Guest speakers include Lauren Iagulli, program director, Public Health; Rebecca Riblet, assistant professor, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; Erin Shilling, assistant professor, Health and Rehabilitation Sciences; and Morgan Bagley, program director, Master of Athletic Training.

Children’s activities will take place from 1:30 to 4 p.m., featuring an obstacle course, punt, pass and kick challenge, sport-specific stretching, cooking demonstrations, BMI charting, crafting and hands-only CPR.

Additional sessions will address topics such as childhood obesity, healthy food options, food safety, trauma and PTSD, suicide awareness and prevention, the impact of social media on youth mental health and concussion education.
