Traditional check-outs with RAs are available from 9 AM to 5 PM. If necessary, residents can check out with an RA on-call between 5 PM and midnight. From midnight to 9 AM, only the express check-out option is available. Per the housing contract, residents must check out using one of these methods. Residents should see information posted throughout the residence halls about closing procedures. Additionally, House staff will ensure that each room will have a ‘Closing Expectations’ checklist posted on the door to guide residents through the check-out process. Failure to follow these expectations may result in additional charges to resident’s student account.
Contract Extension Request
Residents needing extended housing between Friday, May 1st and Sunday, May 3rd, can submit a request here. Only requests due to graduation or extenuating circumstances will be considered. Residents will receive a decision via their YSU email.
The summer housing application opens April 1st! Current residents who need summer housing for any of the following terms will be able to sign up via the online portal (housingapp.ysu.edu) by selecting the appropriate term. The preferred deadline to apply for summer housing is Friday, April 10th. Summer residents will receive their room assignments by Friday, April 24th.
Students must be registered for three credit hours, per summer term session, to live in summer housing. Students who stay for both terms will not need to move out after Summer 1 term.

Total Housing Fees: $2,600.00 per 7-week term
All summer residents will be provided a summer meal plan including $800 Pete’s Points and $400 Flex Dollars that can be used at on and off campus dining locations, including Christman Dining Hall.
Residents needing a contract extension to stay prior to Summer 1 move in or after Summer 2 move out, are asked to fill out the contract extension request form found here:
Housing Contract Extension Request webpage. If approved, residents will be asked to move into their new assignment during the extension weeks, so they must be present in the halls during those weeks. Residents must have a signed contract for 2026-2027 to stay beyond the Summer 2 session.
